Teaching Methods of my cooperating teacher

During my observation of my cooperating teacher, who serves as both my mentor and supervisor, I witnessed a dynamic English lesson for first and second graders in elementary school. To capture the students' attention, she initiated the class with an engaging technique: "Five lemons in your mouth, huupp!!" This playful approach effectively settled the students, creating an optimal environment for learning.

Subsequently, she introduced new vocabulary through captivating stories accompanied by visually appealing illustrations displayed on the smartboard. Employing an inquiry-based learning method demands creativity from educators, and my cooperating teacher adeptly integrates advanced technology such as smartboards, iPads, and sound systems to enhance the effectiveness and sophistication of the learning process.

Maintaining a vibrant and energetic class atmosphere is one of my cooperating teacher's strengths. She effortlessly cultivates a positive mood, which in turn fosters an environment conducive to learning. Students eagerly participate, both posing questions and providing answers, demonstrating their enthusiasm for the lesson.

The classroom arrangement, with seats arranged in a U-shape, facilitates seamless interaction between students and teacher. Additionally, my cooperating teacher utilizes materials from the "Cambridge Path" activity and student's book, which she skillfully incorporates into her lesson plans.

Overall, the teaching and learning activities at this school exemplify the highest quality standards, characterized by state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional educators. Every teacher demonstrates proficiency in managing even the most challenging students with professionalism and care, ensuring a nurturing learning environment that can truly be considered exemplary.

Learning materials and Innovation

As the teacher serves as a role model and plays a crucial role in facilitating student learning, various materials and innovative tools are incorporated into the classroom environment. BenQ smartboards are utilized extensively to present activities, including interactive games, educational videos, and audio listening exercises. Additionally, workshops are occasionally conducted where students engage in hands-on activities, such as crafting depictions of weather using sticks and origami on cardboard, and selecting appropriate clothing for the depicted weather scenario.

The "Cambridge Path" book is an integral part of the curriculum, offering not only physical resources but also digital content accessible through an accompanying application. This resource enables students to listen to audio materials and engage with interactive exercises, which can then be displayed and utilized on the BenQ smartboard, further enhancing the learning experience.

Learning materials and Innovation

The learning resources and technology integrated into the classroom are highly advanced. In addition to utilizing the "Cambridge Path" curriculum, students have access to the internet through the Smartboard during lessons. Under the supervision of the teacher, students can explore topics of interest online, expanding their knowledge and understanding.

Moreover, iPads are provided to students for various purposes, including playing educational games and completing assessments designed by the teacher. This not only ensures engagement but also allows for ongoing assessment of students' abilities in a fun and interactive manner.

Furthermore, each classroom is equipped with microphones and speakers, enabling teachers to communicate clearly without the need to raise their voices. This technology enhances classroom management and ensures that every student can hear instructions and participate effectively in activities.

Authentic assessment

The assessments employed by teachers typically involve paper-based tests featuring questions relevant to the recently taught topics. These assessments are usually administered following the completion of a particular lesson or unit. Additionally, daily assessments are conducted using PowerPoint presentations, where students can either volunteer or respond directly to the teacher's questions, earning points for their participation.

Furthermore, teachers actively observe each student's progress and development within the classroom environment. This individualized approach allows teachers to track students' growth over time and provide targeted support where needed. By combining traditional paper-based assessments with interactive daily assessments and ongoing observation, teachers ensure a comprehensive understanding of each student's learning journey.
